SWAMMTVC
Voting process as provided for SWAMMTVC elections.
All members of the MMTVC who meet the criteria of membership of Chapter Two are eligible to vote.
Voting shall be by secret ballot and conducted by the ECM.
The Returning Officers from the ECM shall oversee the conduct of elections from polling to announcement of results.
Only when deemed necessary shall the Dean of Students recommend the use of a Presiding Officer from IEBC to oversee the elections.
There shall be polling clerks from the ECM to carry out election activities from polling to tallying of votes.
Every candidate shall be represented by two agents whom he or she shall appoint in writing.
They shall conduct themselves in a decent manner before, during and after elections by not contravening electoral regulations.
Materials may include ballot boxes, ballot papers, polling booths, indelible ink and certificates and shall be provided by the ECM.
Ballot boxes shall be transparent and placed in a conspicuous location.
The ballot paper shall bear the name(s) of the aspirant.
Where an aspirant wishes to include a nickname on the ballot paper, the meaning of the nickname shall be explained to the Dean of Students before its inclusion is allowed or declined.
This shall be open to not more than two members of a religious group(s) and/or any other non-political association duly registered by the Dean of Students in the MMTVC.
Request for participation shall be done in writing to the Dean of Students at least three days before polling day.
A member may be barred from voting if:
Counting shall begin immediately after the time of voting elapses.
The exercise shall be overseen by the Presiding Officer and polling agents.
The result form must be signed by polling agents. If one declines, it shall in no way invalidate the result.
Any ballot not containing the ECM stamp shall be void.
The Returning / Presiding Officer and polling agents shall decide on valid votes.
Tallying shall be conducted in an open and conspicuous place.
In case of a tie, there shall be a re-run within seven working days.
The result shall be announced by the Returning / Presiding Officer after tallying is complete.
The list of names of successful office bearers shall be posted on the MMTVC notice board.
The swearing-in of successful SWAMMTVC candidates shall be conducted within three working days after election results have been announced.
The oath of office shall be administered by a Commissioner for Oaths.
The term of office for SWAMMTVC leaders shall begin immediately after they are sworn in.
The term of office for all SWAMMTVC leaders shall end on 30 September of every year.
Cabinet Secretaries shall be nominated only if the seats are not contested.
Cabinet Secretaries shall be nominated to the council of student's council basing on:
Official student governance documents.
Official updates from the Student Council and Dean of Students.
